What’s Included in Your Session

At LNHC, acupuncture is rarely just needles. Your session may also include complementary techniques like cupping, gua sha, or infrared therapy to support your healing—at no additional cost

You may request or deny any of these services during your session.

  • Relieve muscle tension & improve circulation.

The touch and pressure from cupping stimulate large nerve fibers, which results in the blocking of pain signals to the brain sent by other nerves.

    Cupping uses gentle suction to:

✔ Increase blood flow & speed recovery

✔ Reduce muscle soreness & tension

    ✔ Promote deep relaxation

Cupping is often used for pain relief, detoxification, and respiratory support.

  • A gentle scraping technique to release tension & inflammation.

Gua Sha is an ancient soft-tissue therapy that:

✔ Releases muscle knots & fascia tension

✔ Stimulates circulation & lymphatic drainage

✔ Supports immune & respiratory health

Gua Sha is especially effective for chronic pain, headaches, and post-exercise recovery.

  • Boost cellular energy, speed up healing, and reduce oxidative stress.

Red light therapy works at the cellular level to enhance mitochondrial function, helping your body regenerate and recover naturally.

Red light therapy is often used to:
✔ Reduce inflammation & oxidative stress
✔ Improve skin health, collagen production & wound healing
✔ Support recovery from injury & muscle fatigue

This non-invasive therapy is a powerful tool for pain management, skin rejuvenation, and overall cellular health. It pairs well with acupuncture and bodywork to amplify healing.

  • Relieve stiffness, reduce inflammation & boost your body’s natural healing response.

Infrared light penetrates deep into muscles and tissue—warming the body from within and stimulating cellular repair.

Infrared therapy is often used to:
✔ Improve circulation & oxygen flow
✔ Ease joint & muscle pain
✔ Support immune function & reduce inflammation

This gentle, soothing heat can also help calm the nervous system, making it a perfect addition to acupuncture or bodywork sessions.

Near-infrared therapy promotes collagen production, enhances circulation, improves skin texture, and provides deep pain relief.

  • A gentle warming technique to enhance healing.

Promotes deep relaxation via parasympathetic and softens tight muscles quicker and deeper penetration of the patient’s tissues and a more powerful response from the body’s temperature receptors.

Moxibustion (heat therapy) involves warming acupuncture points using mugwort herb (moxa).

✔ Improves circulation & relieves joint pain

✔ Supports digestion & cold conditions

✔ Deeply relaxes the nervous system

Heat therapy is often used for arthritis, menstrual cramps, and chronic fatigue.

  • When inhaled, aromatherapy stimulates your nervous system (brain, spinal cord and nerves). This means aromatherapy starts a chain reaction of signals to your brain and chemical responses throughout your body. This activity begins once you start smelling an essential oil.

  • Jennifer creates infused oils and liniments with local and Chinese medical grade herbs to promote tissue healing, relieve tension, and decrease pain.

Fire Cupping

  • An ancient healing technique with roots dating back to 1550 BCE, fire cupping is a powerful way to draw stagnation, tension, and inflammation to the surface—where the body can process and release it.

This therapy uses glass cups and a gentle flame to create suction on the skin, which helps:

    • Loosen tight muscles

    • Improve circulation

    • Calm the nervous system

    • Support recovery from illness or fatigue

Cupping can be especially helpful for:

    ✔ Chronic pain & tension
✔ Stress, anxiety & nervous system support
    ✔ Post-workout recovery
    ✔ Headaches & migraines
✔ Respiratory conditions like colds or the flu

  • In Jennifer’s sessions, fire cupping is often used after warming the tissue with massage. The fire briefly enters the cup to create a vacuum, then the cup is placed directly on the skin, gently pulling the fascia and underlying tissue upward. The sensation is often described as deep pressure—not painful, but grounding and relaxing.

Cups typically stay in place for 5 to 15 minutes, and the effects can last for days—like an extended massage that continues working long after your session ends.

You may notice circular marks that fade within a few days; these are simply signs that circulation has increased in the area. Any tenderness usually resolves within 24 hours.

FAQ

  • Acupuncture is the insertion of stainless steel, or gold-plated, sterile, single-use needles only slightly wider than a human hair.

A session can use as few as 2 needles or as many as 20, the needles can go in and out or remain for up to 30 minutes, depth depends on location and location depends on the issue treated- there are many ways to receive acupuncture and we will work together to find the best way for you.

This method of therapy and its skillful application works with your brain, nerves, fascia, muscles, blood, and your energetic body to right the ship and get you back into a place of balance.

  • I will not lie and say it's painless nor can I say you will experience discomfort. I will say that it is different for each person AND it can feel different from session to session.

The more of a routine you make something like acupuncture or massage, the easier it is for you to relax sooner. I like to go into each session with some curiosity both as a patient and as a practitioner. I believe this gives us room to grow and heal- breaking free from old patterning.

  • This will be specific to each person, how fast you recover, the type of issue we are working with, and how long the issue has been going on before seeking treatment.

We like to start with 8-10 treatments to fully resolve or make progress into your issue.

I like to think of this type of medicine like exercise... you can't do it once and expect results. It is an accumulation of small changes that help the body regain optimal health.

  • Yes—acupuncture is safe and highly beneficial during pregnancy when performed by a qualified practitioner. At LNHC, we use specific techniques and points that are appropriate for each stage of pregnancy, helping to relieve discomfort, regulate hormones, improve sleep, and support emotional well-being.

It can also be used to support conditions like nausea, back pain, sciatica, and even to help prepare the body for labor. If you’re pregnant or trying to conceive, we’ll tailor your treatment with that in mind.

Add acupuncture to any pre-natal/post-natal massage.
